Ward 3 Infrastructure Investments: 

  • Dixie Watermain Replacement & Restoration; 
  • Burnhamthorpe, Dixie, Eastgate Multi-Use Trails; 
  • Rathwood, Applewood, Rockwood, Fleetwood, Dixie Bloor    
  • Neighbourhood road resurfacing, watermain, sidewalk & LED lighting program; 
  • Alectra hydro upgrades - Applewood, Rathwood, Rockwood & Fleetwood; 
  • Championing Cawthra Sanitary & Ponytrail Sanitary Program to help protect  residents from flooding and Burnhamthorpe, Rathburn & Tomken Rd resurfacing & Noise Wall program; 
  • Redevelopment of Burnhamthorpe Community Centre with pool, fitness centre & additional programming space 

Ward 3 City Programming Investments: 

  • Increased Free Active Older Adult Use of Burnhamthorpe Community Centre & Tomken Twin Arena
  • Championing delivery of Community Bike Rides with MCAC & Traffic Safety Council – now a formal program averaging 25 rides annually, bike safety clinics & marshal training
  • Championed & collaborated on delivery of the Hickory Drive Explosion Emergency Management & Support Program providing tax relief for the residents
  • Championing Redeveloped Parks: Jaycee Accessible Park; Cherry Hill Park, Trail & Fitness Equipment; Applewood, Alison equipment & trail redevelopment; Garnetwood equipment, trail redevelopment & washroom
  • Championing Municipal Governance High School Co-op Program – since 2010 have offered the co-op to 16 students

  • Championed Imagining Ward 3: A neighbourhood steering committee working to create a vision to guide residential and commercial redevelopment that will enhance the established neighbourhoods and green spaces throughout the community
  • Created East Bloor Corridor Plan & Ward 3 Property Standards Building Audit Program to protect tenants and homeowners and reinvest and revitalize neighbourhoods
  • Supported the Dundas Connects Master Plan and the Re-imagining the Mall program for Rockwood
  • Developing a Ward 3 – Burnhamthorpe/Dixie Business and Dixie/Dundas Business Improvement Association
  • Successfully advocated for a National Housing Strategy and a sustainable Federal Build Canada Funding for Mississauga and Ward 3
  • Initiating LPAT Community Meetings to help support residents’ understand the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) process

  • Expansion of Burnhamthorpe SNAP/TRCA program – residential weather resilience through stormwater management & energy retrofit program; food tower connection program; Sheridan Nursery Rain Garden & Russet Homes Co-op Fleetwood; home efficiency program
  • Implementation of two community gardens: Forest Glen & Burnhamthorpe Library collaborating with Ecosource
  • Annual Ward 3 Community Clean-ups & Tree Plantings
  • Opening of Shelby Wood Lot – protecting & preserving trees
  • Championed formalized Hydro Corridor Trail development from Audubon to Dundas and Etobicoke & Little Etobicoke Creek 3D Flood Modelling, Flood Mitigation & Trail Rehabilitation Program and a review of the Peel Multi-Residential Waste program to better service residents

Reducing Gridlock

DELIVERING RESULTS

  • Opened Bus Rapid Transit stations completed 2014-2018 Cawthra, Tomken, Dixie & Tahoe
  • Championing increased GO service & created safer pedestrian access at Dixie GO including advocating for two-way all day GO service on the Milton Line & supporting the ”Missing Link” to remove freight from the Milton Line
  • Championing centralized traffic signalization system to keep traffic flowing & a “Vision Zero” approach to make all intersections safer for pedestrians, older adults, those with disabilities & cyclists
  • Approved Dundas Connects Master Plan supporting Bus Rapid Transit 
  • Advocating for an integrated accessible transportation system between Transhelp (PEEL) & Wheeltrans (Toronto) one fare, one system

Safe Community

  • Championing Ward 3 Dixie Bloor Neighbourhood Watch Apartment and Condominium Program
  • Collaborating with Peel Police, Safe City Mississauaga, Mississauga Parks & Facility & Road Watch on a neighbourhood by neighbourhood community safety & crime prevention programs 
  • Working with Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee & Traffic Safety Council on safe Walking School Routes Program
  • Successfully implemented mid-block crossings & signalized intersections at Westminster & Burnhamthorpe, Breckenridge & Cawthra & the Hydro Corridor at Ponytrail & Burnhamthorpe
  • Championing Traffic Calming on Rymal, Flagship, Golden Orchard, Hickory, Runningbrook, Creekbank, Willowbank, Fieldgate, Boughbeeches & Winding Trail
